I CAN! Arts & Resource Center was built in large part through a grant from Arkansas Economic Development Commission, and in cooperation with Saline County, as well as donations from businesses, organizations and individuals. The center makes it possible for I CAN! of Arkansas to offer all of its extracurricular activities to children with disabilities in Central Arkansas.
Families from all over Central Arkansas come for the experience. A large number of participants are from Saline County, including the East End Community, Benton, Bryant, Alexander and Traskwood. Others come from Little Rock, Hensley, Mabelvale, Russellville, England, Pine Bluff, Arkadelphia, Conway, North Little Rock, White Hall and Sheridan.
I CAN! Arts & Resource Center celebrated its grand opening with a “Birthday Bash” on July 6, 2012. About 300 people attended the event which featured games, arts and crafts, Santa, performances and other entertainment, plus concessions. Guests were asked to bring a “birthday gift” for the center. Many donated art supplies, toilet paper, office supplies, paper towels, etc. to stock the center and help lower its overhead cost. The Birthday Bash continues to be part of I CAN! of Arkansas’ annual fundraising efforts.
